CORFU GENERAL HOSPITAL

This project is an addition to the existing Corfu hospital. It was constructed to meet the needs of the Summit Meeting that took place in Corfu in June, 1994. It includes:
1) A 600 m2 addition to two floors on the existing hospital. A special, light construction with metal struts was used, as well as beams with sheet iron plates and lightweight concrete with full air condition and the existing load-bearing organism was reinforced with reinforced concrete at the basement and ground floor levels.
2) The whole hospital with a total surface area of 5,000 m2 was repaired. Frames were replaced and nets, a new ventilation installation, floors and false roofs were added. The project was carried out without ever closing down the hospital and was completed within four months. It was delivered in time, the additions were used immediately and the building was transformed into a modern hospital.
